We want to help the kids, and that is the main reason why we are doing this project. But I have a personal motive, which probably makes this whole project less than purely altruistic.
These days, it's so easy to find reasons to be angry. Just look at the comments section of online newspapers and you'll have your fill of anger. But kindness is out there if you look in the right places. And, well, let's just say that this project was also a way to bring out the kindness. I had always known that there will be a lot of people who will be more than willing to support this project. But to see it in action, to see just how many people would be happy to help, well, that in itself is always refreshing.
Less than two weeks since we started the project, we received our first set of donated books from Adarna House, Inc., which responded to our request for donations in less than a day.
We've also received other book donations, book order confirmations, and e-mail queries on how to donate.
This project is for the kids but somehow, I know, I will benefit enormously from just seeing how much kindness is out there.
